On successful completion of this course, participants will have a fundamental knowledge of Initial Airworthiness legislation and how it impacts aircraft design and design changes. It will introduce the learner to the theory and practice of Initial Airworthiness and provide them with an opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of the development process for major and minor aircraft modification and repairs.

What are the entry requirements?

An aircraft maintenance qualification, aviation qualification at Level 6 or above or extensive experience in the aircraft maintenance industry. ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Legislation of Part 21 Design, TCDS Type Certificate Data Sheet, Certification Specifications/Airworthiness codes, Design Organisation and Means of Compliance, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Supplemental Type Certificates and Modifications, Flammability and Flammability Testing Part 1, Flammability and Flammability Testing Part 2, Painting, Weight and Balance, Flight Control Balance, Development of a minor modification/repair and presentation of the package to an authority for approval.

Assessment
100% Continuous Assessment. Students will complete ten written assignment /case study/report as per the ten sections set out in the indicative syllabus.
