Went to the first week's summer camp and I learnt a lot . Jane and Eddie were very friendly and helped with any questions. Flying the simulators was very exciting,... read more in the BA 146 and 737. In the summer camp we went to the Air Traffic Control tower in Shannon airport and we went to the control center in Ballycasey. I really recommend this to anyone.
Thanks very much Jane and Eddie
We dropped in here on a wet morning while holidaying in the area for a few days. My wife and I and two kids 7 and 4 really enjoyed the... read more experience. We were welcomed at the reception counter and made feel very welcome. Eddie the owner gave us a guided tour of the museum, he was very informative and interesting and you could listen to his stories for ages. He recalled his own career as a Senior Aviation Engineer in the RAF.
Our guys got the opportunity to put on real junior aviation suits and we had plenty of time for photos.
Great place for anyone with and interest in the Aviation industry.
Thanks for sharing with us.
I got this for my boyfriend as he loves airplanes. I though it'd be fun for me too but I didn't expect it to be as good as it was!... read more
We got to compete against each-other on the flight simulator. Then my boyfriend did the 737 take-off and landing which was actually amazing; it was the cockpit of a real 737 and he got to use the same controls a real pilot would use. The experience was very realistic.
Then they demonstrated the inflation of a life vest and we got to keep it afterwards!
There's also a museum with some retired airplanes from several different countries, some are former war planes.
Most of all, the people running it were just brilliant. They were so knowledgeable (they're all volunteers - it's a not for profit organisation). One is a pilot, the other a former member of the US Air Force. They really took their time explaining everything and you could feel the love they have for all things aviation.
A really fantastic and enjoyable day out.
It wa an over all good experience for me and my student I was with whom has autism but there one lady with glasses who works there was very abrupt... read more and rude to my young student. She wasn’t helpful and basically felt like we were unwelcome by her presence. Her sister showed us around the place and into some of the display planes was a great host and very friendly but her sister left a bad taste in my mouth unfort especially for kids with SEN
I got an hour on the simulator as a present from my wife, and all I can say is WOW. You start off with a briefing on what's what on... read more the plane which is excellent and then into the cockpit. I must say the experience of sitting in the cockpit really does make you feel like you are actually flying. The instruction was excellent, he answered all my questions and brought me through everything explaining what was what in the cockpit. I did a number of landings and take off's and then I got to fly over a city at low altitude. You can also fly in or out of a specific airport if you wish. All in all highly recommended and I will definitely be back for a future flight.

I shared this information in advance when I booked online and the team couldn’t have made him feel more special. He flew the 737-800 with Harry at the helm who was brilliant with Dad and allowed him the experience of a lifetime & certainly one he has been talking about constantly since we did it. Taking off from Shannon to Singapore and landing in New York with a sneaky flyover the Statue of Liberty was amazing. Jane and team are brilliant, we enjoyed our time so much. They offer a range of options, we did an hour’s flight which was €150 but they offer lots of other options. The building may not look much from the outside but if you’re into planes this experience is unmissable!!!!

I had the chance to have a very kindly Lady , to explain me the exposition. I have felt that, she is very passionnate and has an impressive knowledge. If you wanna see some grat planes and simulator , just go. We need museum like this one to keep this knowledge.
This title is a misnomer. Although the building is situated near Shannon Airport there is very little about Shannon (apart from some photographs mounted awkwardly on a dark stairway). Neither... read more is it an “aviation” museum but a collection of aircraft and aircraft parts, altogether a small part of Aviation. Also, part of the exhibition is inaccessible at the moment due to building works but no allowance for this is made in the (already expensive) entrance fee.
Shannon Airport has a long and rich history in the world of aviation. For many years Shannon controlled the vast bulk of air traffic between Europe and North America. Its position on the western edge of Europe was of paramount importance in the pre-jet era. If you visit this museum expecting to experience this history you will be disappointed – as I was.
